Tenaya

Before founding Tenaya, Jose Luis had already participated in the development and design of world-renowned climbing shoe models, which he first began researching during his university studies. He lives surrounded by mountains, in a region of Spain with a long tradition of footwear design and manufacturing.

Jose Luis divides his time between travelling the world on climbing expeditions (where he has achieved numerous first ascents, not only of El Capitan but also of Fitz Roy and other virgin walls in the South American Andes) and competitive sailing, a sport in which he has taken part in four world championships and even been Spanish champion.

Obsessed with creating the perfect climbing shoe, Jose Luis uses everything he's learned from his experiences in the mountains and on the water. His philosophy is simple: maximum performance is the ultimate goal and forms the foundation of all Tenaya designs.
